The third-floor penthouse at Casa Lapa is shaped by what surrounds it. From one side, you can see toward Playa Hermosa and catch a glimpse of the Pacific break. The ocean is close enough to become part of the room's atmosphere even when you are inside.
Turn toward the mountains and the light changes. Morning arrives through those windows from the inland side, bringing sunrise color over the green horizon. It is a different Costa Rica from the open Pacific view, and having both makes the penthouse feel connected to the full landscape rather than a single postcard angle.
The third view belongs to a large mature almendra tree. Scarlet macaws—lapas rojas—regularly move through the neighborhood and land among its branches. Their calls often announce them before their bright red, blue and yellow feathers appear. Guests do not need an excursion to experience that moment; sometimes it happens beside the window.
The community is lush with palms, tropical flowers and fruiting trees. Heliconias and bird-of-paradise add sharp color, while orchids and other garden plants thrive around the homes. The pleasure is not in treating the neighborhood like a botanical checklist. It is in slowing down enough to notice what is flowering, feeding or flying past today.
Inside, the penthouse is a private three-bedroom retreat with its own kitchen and living space. Outside, those three directions—ocean, mountains and almendra canopy—give every part of the day a different frame.
